Service and repair work on the fuel injector must begin by draining the fuel system pressure followed by negative battery terminal cable removal. First detach the cylinder head cover No. 2 in addition to ignition coil No. 1 and both ventilation hoses. The first step requires disconnecting the fuel injector connectors and the connector with three wire harness clamps as well as the engine wire harness. Then remove the bolt and wire harness bracket before taking out the nine bolts and two nuts alongside two seal washers. The disconnection of fuel tube sub-assembly requires removal of fuel pipe clamp followed by pinching the fuel tube connector retainer to extract it from fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly before cleaning both parts to eliminate dirt and scratches. Feed the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly with its four fuel injectors through until eliminating the two delivery pipe No. 1 spacers followed by the four injector vibration insulators until pulling the four fuel injector assemblies out of the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly. New O-rings and contact surfaces of the fuel delivery pipe receive a light application of gasoline or spindle oil before installing the fuel injectors with left-right turning motions to prevent O-ring twisting. The installation requires four new injector vibration insulators as well as the two No. 1 delivery pipe spacers to be positioned correctly on the cylinder head. Fasten the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly containing the four fuel injectors. Preliminarily install the three bolts while verifying the injector's smooth motion before tightening bolt A to 19 Nm and bolt B to 9.0 Nm. After installing the fuel tube sub-assembly by feeding the fuel tube connector to register a click the assembly requires no foreign material before installing the fuel pipe clamp. Introduce Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black or Three Bond 1207B or equivalent seal packing to the cylinder head before mounting the cylinder head cover sub-assembly within three minutes of installation. After two hours of non-operation, start the engine. Use the specified sequence to bolt down nine cylinder head cover sub-assembly parts along with two nuts and two seal washers until reaching 10 Nm torque (102 kgf.cm or 7.0 ft. lbs.) and install the wire harness bracket through 13 Nm torque (133 kgf.cm or 9.6 ft. lbs.). Wiring harnesses should be connected with their clamp and other connectors followed by engine harness and fuel injector wiring. Grasp ventilation hose No. 2 before installing ignition coil No. 1 while reattaching the cable to the negative battery terminal at 5.4 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 48 in. lbs.). Before installing cylinder head cover No. 2 the technician needs to verify for any fuel or engine oil leakage.

Cover the parts with a vinyl bag and if the fuel tube connector and pipe are stuck, push and pull to release them.

Remove the fuel pipe clamp, pinch the retainer of the fuel tube connector, and pull it to disconnect from the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

Remove the cylinder head cover No. 2 and ignition coil No. 1, followed by disconnecting the ventilation hose and ventilation hose No. 2.
