    Q:
How do you install the front seat cushion assembly with the occupant classification ECU and sensor on Scion xB? Posted by Customer
    A:
Installation of the front seat cushion assembly with occupant classification ECU and sensor starts with new parts from prepared service kits while SRS components must never derive from other vehicles. Before using an occupant classification sensor in replacement work verify that it did not experience a crash or show any evidence of damage. During installation secure the SRS wires so they avoid both other components and the wire pinch points. Install the occupant classification sensor by first attaching it with 2 clips before levering the claw to the seat cushion frame and afterward joining the connector. The installation process begins with adding the front seat cushion cover pad followed by the front seat cushion shield LH before the front seat inner belt assembly and front seat cushion shield RH and reclining adjuster release handle installation. Fasten the occupant classification ECU with its 2 bolts at 3.0 Nm (31 kgf-cm, 27 in-lbf) torque level and attach its connector. Put in place the front seat assembly RH followed by the front seat headrest assembly and seat track cover before installing the seat track inner bracket cover. Complete the process by connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal with 5.4 Nm torque then running zero point calibration followed by the sensitivity check and finally inspecting the SRS warning light.

    Q:
How do you remove the front seat cushion assembly with the Occupant Classification ECU and Occupant Classification Sensor on Scion xB? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disassembly of the front seat cushion assembly with the Occupant Classification ECU and Occupant Classification Sensor requires you to disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal while waiting for 90 seconds to avoid accidental Air Bag deployment. The following procedure requires dismantling of seat headrest assembly and seat track cover and seat track inner bracket cover. Proceed to detach the occupant classification ECU by disconnecting its connector along with removing the two bolts. The procedure requires users to take out the reclining adjuster release handle alongside the front seat inner belt assembly along with both left and right front seat cushion shields. The last step entails disconnecting the connector from the occupant classification sensor followed by wireless harness clamp removal and seat cushion frame clamp release and extraction of the 2 clips and occupant classification sensor.
