Service and repair of the brake caliper requires front wheel removal before beginning the operation. Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 allows you to disconnect the brake line while catching the fluid in a container by applying torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). Next you should use 123 Nm (1,250 kgf-cm, 90 ft. lbs.) to remove the 2 mounting bolts as well as the caliper. Prepare a wooden plate to hold the pistons, placing it between the pistons with a pad on one side.

Begin by removing the front wheel and temporarily fastening the disc with hub nuts, torqued to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.).

Measure the disc thickness with a micrometer; the standard is 22.0 mm (0.866 inch) and the minimum is 20.0 mm (0.787 inch). Replace the disc if it meets or falls below the minimum, or if it is scored or worn unevenly.
