Clutch Assembly

A repair or service of the compressor clutch begins with its full disassembly process. Service Tool 07112-66040 along with a socket wrench will be needed to take off the shaft bolt which requires 13.2 Nm (135 kg.cm, 9 ft.lb) of torque. After placing Special Service Tool onto the pressure plate you should use a socket wrench to extract it while removing the shims in the pressure plate. Pouring Special Service Tool: 07114-84020 onto the snap ring permits removal until you reach the assembly stage when you need to position the beveled side of the snap ring facing upward. From the shaft remove the rotor using plastic clamping to preserve the pulley. The process of removing the stator begins with disconnecting the stator lead wire and afterwards performing a snap ring removal (oriented for the same beveled side position) using Special Service Tool: 07114-84020 followed by extraction of the stator. A dial indicator allows the clearance check of the magnetic clutch during reassembly by measuring the pressure plate to rotor distance with the positive battery terminal connected to the magnetic clutch lead wire. The necessary measurement for standard clearance is between 0.5 mm to 0.65 mm (0.020 to 0.025 in.) but when this range is not achieved use shims which measure 0.1 mm (0.004 in.), 0.3 mm (0.012 in.), or 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) to reach the specified standard.

Gently tap the rotor off the shaft with a plastic hammer, being cautious not to damage the pulley.

Inspect for refrigerant leakage using a gas leak detector and check the tightening torque at the joints, followed by an inspection of A/C operation.

Connect the discharge and suction hoses with the 2 bolts, torquing to 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf), ensuring to lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil before installation.

Disconnect the stator lead wire from the compressor housing, use Special Service Tool: 95994-10020 to remove the snap ring, and then take out the stator.

Run the engine at idle speed with the A/C on for approximately 10 minutes, then stop the engine and disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
