Installation of the clock spring with sensor sub-assembly should begin after disconnecting the battery and switching off the ignition. During this process verify the front wheels are pointed straight ahead while the turn signal switch stays in neutral to protect the switch pin from damage. Follow the instructions to install the clock spring through 3 claws, removing the lock pin when steering wheel assembly replacement necessitates new hardware installation, and attach the connectors to the clock spring without harming the Air Bag wire harness. Following the installation of upper and lower steering column covers, users should turn front wheels straight ahead while adjusting the clock spring by counterclockwise rotation until it stops and then clockwise rotation of about 2.5 turns to align mounted marks. Steer clear of using the Air Bag wire harness when performing these adjustments. Post installation of the steering wheel assembly and steering pad you must install the lower steering wheel covers before inspecting the cable center alignment and reconnecting it to the negative battery terminal while recognizing that system initialization might be required after connection. The final inspection checks the steering pad and conducts diagnostic system checks as well as verifies proper SRS warning light operation. Special Service Tool: 09843-18020.

Remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover, followed by the steering pad.
