Since C50 MANUAL TRANSAXLE employs a transmission control cable it needs disconnection from the negative battery terminal as a starting procedure. The Hatchback requires removal of the shift lever knob sub-assembly together with the rear console box assembly. The Sedan requires removal of three sub-assemblies and two carpet panels and two console panels. The sub-assemblies include the shift lever knob sub-assembly while the panel and carpet components are upper console panel sub-assembly, console upper rear panel sub-assembly, console box carpet and rear console box assembly. The operation continues with removing the front exhaust pipe assembly after disconnecting the oxygen sensor connector. The next step requires dismantling front floor heat insulator No.1 by removing its 2 bolts and nut. Detach the transmission control cable assembly through three steps which begin with disconnecting the control shift cable from the shift lever before turning the lock to free it and finally separating the control shift cable from the shift lever retainer. You should remove the clip and disconnect the control select cable from the shift lever before turning the lock to release this connection and then parting the control select cable from the shift lever retainer. You need to start by unclipping 2 washers along with 2 cables from the transaxle to separate them from their connections. At the same time remove 2 clips which disconnect the cables from the control cable bracket along with using 3 nuts to extract the transmission control cable.

Remove the 2 clips and the 2 washers to disconnect the 2 cables from the transaxle.

Install the exhaust pipe assembly, connect the oxygen sensor connector, and install the rear console box assembly for the hatchback, followed by the shift lever knob sub-assembly for the hatchback.

Attach the transmission control cable assembly using the 3 nuts with a torque of 5.0 N*m, ensuring the control cable's protruding portion faces upward and that the lock of the cable outer is correctly positioned.

Remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly and the rear console box assembly.
