    Q:
How to replace the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 on Toyota Highlander? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 is to follow side Air Bag service precautions and disconnect the battery negative terminal. To replace the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 you must first remove the instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly lower together with instrument panel insert sub-assembly lower LH, instrument cluster finish panel assembly center, floor carpet cover center RH, floor carpet cover center LH, front seat assembly RH, front seat assembly LH, console box assembly, and front floor footrest. Use a screwdriver to gently remove the claw from parking brake cable assembly No. 1 before taking out the assembly. Perform this operation without damaging the components. Detach the clip from the parking brake pedal assembly followed by separation of the lock nut and parking brake wire adjusting nut No. 1. The new assembly of parking brake cable No. 1 gets installed with its built-in clip while a temporary stability hook-up is made with the parking brake wire adjusting nut No. 1 and lock nut before fully bending the claw. Reinstall the parking brake control pedal assembly together with front floor footrest along with front LH seat assembly and front seat assembly LH. After adjusting the parking brake shoe clearance on the rear wheel you should reinstall the wheel making sure to torque it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm and 76 ft. lbs). Complete the inspection of parking brake pedal travel followed by reconnection of the battery negative terminal then verify the SRS warning light.
