Brake Booster

Service and repair of the vacuum brake booster starts by unscrewing the brake pedal return spring followed by disconnecting the brake master cylinder push rod clevis. Start by moving the No. 2 vacuum hose clip to access its connection and then proceed to take away the brake master cylinder sub-assembly. Start by detaching the brake booster assembly while removing its four nuts and taking caution to protect the brake lines before removing the brake booster gasket. You should untighten the lock nut before taking the brake master cylinder push rod clevis off. The brake booster assembly installation requires installation of the lock nut and brake master cylinder push rod clevis during the pedal height adjustment process before fully tightening the lock nut to 26 Nm (265 kgf-cm, 19 ft. lbs.). You must install new brake booster gasket before mounting the brake booster assembly with gasket using 4 nuts which receive a torque of 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.). Do this while avoiding any damage to brake lines. Place lithium soap base glycol grease on the push rod pin before attaching the brake master cylinder push rod clevis to the brake pedal by using the push rod pin along with a new clip. The last steps include installing the brake pedal return spring while performing brake pedal height inspection followed by installation of the brake master cylinder sub-assembly and connecting the No. 2 vacuum hose through clip movement.

First step in vacuum brake booster removal is to detach the brake pedal return spring. The next step entails clip and push rod pin removal to divide the master cylinder push rod clevis. The disconnect procedure starts with pushing the clip followed by disconnection of the No. 2 vacuum hose. Next you should detach the brake master cylinder sub-assembly unit. You must remove the four brake booster assembly nuts keeping the brake lines in tact. Remove the brake booster gasket in the subsequent step. To finish the operation one should release the brake master cylinder push rod clevis after loosening its lock nut.

Temporarily install the lock nut and the brake master cylinder push rod clevis to the brake booster assembly, ensuring to fully tighten the lock nut after adjusting the pedal height with a torque of 26 Nm (265 kgf-cm, 19 ft-lbf).

Install the brake pedal return spring.
