A total replacement of the complete seat belt assembly together with its components including outer belt and inner belt, bolts, nuts, or sill-bar remains necessary when a severe impact occurred regardless of apparent external damage. The SRS wire harness forms an integral part of the instrument panel wire harness assembly where all system connectors have standard yellow design. Thorough diagnostic system checks are required in vehicles which did not participate in accidents. A diagnostic system check along with an evaluation for breaks and exposed conductors in the SRS wire harness must be performed on vehicles that experienced collisions. Additionally, inspection of SRS wire harness connectors should be done to detect chips and cracks. The seat belt pretensioner requires replacement in cases where it activates itself or shows faults during troubleshooting or if the front seat outer belt fails during functionality checks with Special Service Tool or if the front seat outer belt drops to the ground. The right procedure must be followed when you uninstall and reinstall the seat belt pretensioner system.

Conduct a diagnostic system check and visually inspect for deformation of the center pillar and any damage to the connector and wire harness.

Replace the seat belt assembly, including the outer belt, inner belt, bolts, nuts, or sill-bar, if it has been used in a severe impact, even if damage is not obvious.
