A thorough inspection and repair process for the seat belt system needs to take place after any collision occurs. A seat belt replacement for the entire assembly must include outer belts and inner belts along with bolts, nuts and sill-bar when a severe impact occurred regardless of absence of visible damage. A diagnostic system check and visual inspection requiring removal of the front seat outer belt must be performed without pretensioner activation to check for cuts and cracks or marked discoloration of the center pillar lower garnish as well as wire harness cuts and cracks and connector chipping and center pillar deformation. The inspection must include system testing and checking the center pillar deformation as well as connector and wire harness damage when pretensioner activation occurs.
