Perform diagnostic system checks and visual inspection of the center pillar lower garnish using the front seat outer belt removed to verify its condition; inspect for all signs of damage and marked discoloration of the declined central pillar trim as well as the integrity of floor wire harnesses and components of seatbelt and pretensioner systems. After pretensioner activation the technician should check the system diagnostics then thoroughly inspect the center pillar for deformation while inspecting the connector and wire harness for damage. The seat belt pretensioner needs replacement after experiencing an activation or as a result of troubleshooting failures or when testing Special Service Tool detects a faulty front seat outer belt or in cases when the front seat outer belt reaches the ground.
