The alternator disassembly process begins with removing the generator clutch pulley by unscrewing the pulley cap with a screwdriver then setting the Rotor Shaft Holding Tool (SST: 09820-63021) and Clutch Pulley Wrench before clamping the Tool in a vise while slotting the rotor shaft into it. Start by connecting the Clutch Pulley Wrench to the clutch pulley and twisting it counterclockwise to loosen it before extracting the generator assembly from the SST as well as the clutch pulley from the rotor shaft. Set the generator assembly on the clutch pulley before removing its 3 nuts together with the generator rear end cover. The generator coil should start by removing its terminal insulator before proceeding to uninstall the brush holder assembly through its two screws. You should remove the generator coil assembly by first unbolting the 4 units and thereafter using the specified SST set to extract it. After extracting both components the generator rear end cover and the generator rotor assembly should come off. The drive end frame bearing can be tapped out from the frame using Special Service Tool (SST: 09950-60010, 09951-00250) together with a hammer (SST: 09950-70010, 09951-07100).

The wire harness bracket installation requires a bolt torque to 8.4 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 74 in-lbf). During the installation process keep the generator assembly connected to the bolt and fan belt adjusting bar using two bolts using temporary installation methods. The procedure includes connecting the clamp to the wire harness followed by terminal B installation with a torque of 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf) while terminal B retains a terminal cap. The installation process for the transverse engine mounting bracket requires three bolts that should be tightened to 51 Nm (520 kgf-cm, 38 ft-lbf). Affix the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH through 6 bolts and a nut while torquing bolt A to 45 Nm (459 kgf-cm, 33 ft-lbf) and bolt B to 88 Nm (898 kgf-cm, 65 ft-lbf), nut to 52 Nm (530 kgf-cm, 38 ft-lbf) and then bolt the engine mounting stay RH with 2 bolts torqued to 26 Nm (265 kgf-cm, 19 ft-lbf). The driveway should include fan and generator V belt installation as well as adjustment checks and any necessary inspections. Place the No. 2 cylinder head cover followed by the engine under cover RH while torquing them to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf). The negative cable installation should have a torque value of 5.4 Nm that equates to 55 kgf-cm and 48 in-lbf.

Remove the engine under cover on the right-hand side and the No. 2 cylinder head cover.

Remove the nut to detach terminal B.

Remove the transverse engine mounting bracket by taking out 3 bolts.

Remove the V-ribbed belt.
