Exposure of SRS components to flames or hot air must always be avoided. Vehicular troubleshooting requires a high impedance volt/ohmmeter (10 kOhms/V minimum) and it is essential to evaluate DTCs before battery removal because the memory will become blank. After minor collisions, you must check all SRS components even though the Air Bags failed to activate. You should always discard SRS components taken from different vehicles and install fresh components when encountering any damage. All Air Bag sensors encompassing the center Air Bag sensor assembly together with front Air Bag sensors and side Air Bag sensors and rear Air Bag sensors must never receive drops nor receive disassembly treatment. SRS connectors come in yellow which helps for identification purposes and they contain operating systems that keep connections safe by stopping unplanned disconnects. You should use a screwdriver to unlock buttons on various Air Bag connectors when making connections while verifying that both the connection and locking mechanism produce an audible sound upon engagement. You must follow all specified procedures which deal with SRS components because they ensure safety and proper operation.
