Toyota Yaris Starter Relay is applied to channel the battery power to the starter solenoid to enable the engine to start when the ignition key is turned. The Starter Relay is mounted in the starter control circuit and is triggered by a low current signal from the ignition switch or the Powertrain Control Module. It is then switched to the on position, and high current is permitted to flow through the battery to the starter motor. It remains in this conductive state as long as the key is in start to ensure that the Toyota electrical system is not unnecessarily loaded when the engine has started. A correctly functioning Starter Relay will protect circuitry in such a way that heavy current does not flow through fine switch wiring and that the starter is not thrown on until the right time in all Toyota Yaris. On the Yaris starting circuit, when the Starter Relay is stuck in the on position, the starter can stay in contact with the flywheel and be damaged. When stuck in the off position, the engine will not crank. Constant relay operation promotes stable Toyota starting performance and stable Yaris operation. This Starter Relay is, in general, a critical connection between battery power and engine rotation.
