Starting the throttle cable/linkage service requires the removal of the battery followed by disconnecting the cruise control actuator by unfastening its 3 bolts and removing its connector. First disconnect the throttle cable from the engine by separating it from throttle linkage then remove park/neutral position switch followed by the valve body. Begin the throttle cable removal process by disassembly of bolt and retaining plate followed by pulling the cable from the transaxle case. When installing a new throttle cable the stopping mechanism should be positioned 0.8-1.5 mm (0.031 - 0.059 inch) from the end of the outer cable. The inner cable needs to be tightly pulled until one feels resistance then the stopper should be secured where the cable has a 200 mm (7.87 inches) radius of bend. Screw and tighten the new O-ring onto the throttle cable while assuring full seating and fix the retaining plate with its bolt tightened to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). Proceed by installing the valve body before attaching the throttle cable to the engine using a torque of 15 Nm (150 kgf-cm) and complete throttle cable adjustment. Repositioning the park/neutral position switch and the cruise control actuator requires securing these parts with their 3 bolts while torquing them to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.); finally attach the connector. Reinstall the battery after which you should perform a testing drive of the vehicle.
