2010 Toyota Yaris Brake Master Cylinder Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and replace the brake master cylinder on 2010 Toyota Yaris?
A: Start the brake master cylinder replacement process by exposing the brake booster vacuum so plunge the brake pedal several times and then drain the brake fluid before cleaning off any fluid which touched paint. Begin the procedure by taking out the battery and battery tray together with the battery carrier. Car owners should detach the clutch reservoir tube from manual transaxle vehicles using the slide method on the clip. To proceed with ABS with VSC removal, start by detaching the brake fluid level warning switch connector then use a 12 mm union nut wrench to disconnect the two brake tubes attached to the brake master cylinder sub-assembly before removing two nuts and extracting the sub-assembly which requires removal of the O-ring. Keep the master cylinder away from impacts during handling and never use a master cylinder that fell to the ground. Keep the sub-assembly either horizontal or tilt it downward when installing or removing it to stop pistons from falling out. When maintaining the piston clean it from foreign debris so apply lithium soap-based glycol grease in an even coat around its circumference but never use other types of grease or fluid. When replacing ABS without VSC the procedure starts with disconnecting the brake fluid level warning switch connector and then using 10 mm nut wrenches to separate two brake tubes before removing their two nuts to extract the sub-assembly with its O-ring. When removing components from non-ABS vehicles disconnect the brake fluid level warning switch connector while using a union nut wrench to disconnect brake tubes from their positions. Next, remove the two nuts and brake tube way before extracting the sub-assembly along with the O-ring following proper handling procedures mentioned earlier.
