2009 Toyota Land Cruiser Liftgate Lift Support Parts Q&A
Q: How to install the liftgate lift support assembly on the LH side on 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Begin the installation of LH side back door stays by cleaning the vehicle body threaded surfaces with a non-residue solvent. The back door stay installation demands 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf) torque on its 2 bolts while using Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent on the bolt threads when backing with hand support to the back door. Apply Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or equivalent to the bolt threads before inserting them into the body with a torque of 18 Nm (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf) while supporting the back door during installation. To install the new back door stay, clean its threaded surface then apply adhesive to the bolt threads before screwing it into the body with a torque of 18 Nm (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf) while supporting the back door in the same manner. Adhesive should be applied to the bolt threads before installation. The back door stay should be secured through the bolts with a torque setting of 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf). Additionally, the ball joint of the back door stay bolt should connect to the back door stay assembly LH until it remains secure without detachment.
