2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install an A/C Condenser on 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The first step to install the cooler condenser assembly requires positioning the condenser into the vehicle without causing harm to components like the radiator or condenser. The addition of 40 cc (1.35 fl. oz.) of ND-OIL8 or equivalent compressor oil is necessary for new condensers before installation. Affix the No.1 cooler condenser cushion to the vehicle using four bolts while tightening them to 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf). The No. 2 cooler condenser cushion on the right-hand side requires two bolts and one nut for installation into the radiator lower support until both components reach torques of 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf) for the bolt and 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf) for the nut. To install the left-hand side cushion use two bolts while torquing them to 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf). Fasten the cooler bracket using a nut while tightening both components to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). Next clamp the assembly into place. Begin air conditioning tube assembly installation by taking off vinyl tape from pipe and condenser connection then apply ND-OIL8 or equivalent compressor oil to a new O-ring before securing the bolt between tube and condenser with 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf) torque setting. When installing the discharge hose sub-assembly users need to remove the vinyl tape before applying compressor oil to a new O-ring which they should install onto the discharge hose and bolt it to the condenser with a torque of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). To complete the installation, return the front bumper cover and radiator grille and resuscitate the negative battery terminal with 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf) torque before refrigerant charging and motor heating followed by leak inspection.
