• Q: How to remove the throttle body on 2009 Scion tC?

  A: Draining the engine coolant represents the first step when removing the throttle body from the 2AZ-FE engine control system. You should disconnect the negative cable while waiting 90 seconds before Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation occurs. You must remove the engine cover through delayed removal of its 2 fastening nuts. Familiarize with the throttle body by disconnecting the mass air flow meter connector and purge VSV connector before loosening the wire harness clamp point which enables you to disconnect and remove the No. 2 ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover and the purge line hose from both purge VSV and throttle body. Begin by turning the No. 1 air cleaner clamp and severing its hose from the throttle body before unhooking both hook clamps and pulling out the air cleaner filter element from the air cleaner case. The throttle body removal requires detachment of the water by-pass hose together with the No. 2 water by-pass hose and the No. 1 throttle body hose from the throttle body. First disconnect the throttle position sensor connector along with its control motor and then remove the clamp covering the wire harness before removing the fuel tube from its clamp.
