2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an A/C Condenser in a refrigeration system on 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: Refrigerant discharge from the system along with negative battery terminal cable detachment is required prior to condenser removal. The removal process starts with radiator grille and front bumper cover uninstallation followed by discharge hose sub-assembly bolt removal and O-ring removal while sealing the openings with vinyl tape to exclude moisture and foreign matter. The procedure should also be performed on the air conditioning tube assembly by removing its bolt and O-ring then sealing both openings. To remove the cooler bracket consumers must begin by disconnecting the clamp and unscrewing the nut before removing both left and right No. 2 cooler condenser cushions by extracting their bolts and nut. The operation starts by pulling out the four coolant condenser assembly bolts after securing the condenser with one hand to stop it from dropping. The condenser and radiator must be protected from any potential damage. When fitting the condenser into the vehicle, users should add 40 cc (1.35 fl. oz) of ND-OIL8 compressor oil except for a new condenser installation. Secure the cooler condenser with four bolts at 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) and attach the Number 2 cooler condenser cushion RH by torquing both its bolt to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) and its nut to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) for proper radiator lower support insertion. After installation of the No. 2 cooler condenser cushion LH, tighten both nuts and bolts to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf). The cooler bracket requires installation while using a nut followed by torque application at 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). Complete the procedure by operating the clamp mechanism. Instal a new O-ring by applying compressor oil followed by attachment to the air conditioning tube along with a bolt which requires 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) torque setting. Repetitions of this installation sequence should be performed on the discharge hose sub-assembly while applying compressor oil to the installed new O-ring. The service ends with the reinstallation of the front bumper cover and radiator grille followed by connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal using a torque of 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf). Next, perform a refrigerant charge and engine warming followed by a leak check on the refrigerant system.
