2007 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the A/C Clutch in a refrigeration system on 2007 Toyota Avalon?
A: The procedure to remove the compressor with magnetic clutch begins with discharging the refrigerant from the system before moving to remove the fan V belt and generator assembly. The procedure requires disconnecting Cooler Refrigerant Discharge Hose No.1 after removing its bolt and O-ring before applying vinyl tape for sealing the opened ports against moisture and outside matter intrusion. Subsequently disconnect the suction hose sub-assembly by removing its bolt followed by its O-ring while applying vinyl tape for sealing the openings. Unplug the connector and dissolve the 4 bolts on the compressor and magnetic clutch for removal. The installation process starts by installing the compressor and magnetic clutch through their 4 bolts while tightening them to 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf) torque value following the specified order. To install the suction hose sub-assembly first remove the vinyl tape then add compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) to both new O-ring and fitting surface before O-ring installation with a torque of 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf) using the nut. Follow the same procedure for cooler refrigerant discharge hose No.1 by applying compressor oil to the new O-ring and fitting surface and fastening the nut to the same torque. After completing installation of the generator assembly and fan and generator V belt users should charge the refrigerant then warm up the engine while inspecting for any refrigerant leakages.
