2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install a rear spoiler on 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: You must disable the negative battery cable along with waiting 90+ seconds before cutting off the spoiler to stop Air Bags and pretensioner activation. Using a screwdriver remove the 4 claws first and proceed to unscrew the 2 rear spoiler covers before discharging the 2 bolts. Protective tape should be applied across the spoiler while a piano wire section should be placed between the body and spoiler. After looping the handles to both wire ends pull the wire to remove the double-sided tape. The piano wire must be used to peel off double-sided tape which secures the spoiler but gentle handling is necessary to prevent damages to either component. The spoiler can slide free after unclipping its two fasteners until you disconnect the center stop light connector then detach the spoiler. The next step entails unscrewing the center stop light assembly while removing its 2 screws and light before taking out the back door garnish assembly outside through removal of its 2 hole plugs and 2 nuts. Begin the installation process by mounting the back door garnish assembly outside through use of its two hole plugs and two nuts. Add the center stop light assembly using screws until tight before cleaning the vehicle body surface and warming it with a heat light. Cleaning both tape adhesive remnants and the double-sided tape is necessary following removal. Before using the spoiler again you must clean the surface and apply heat treatment before removing the double-sided tape as well as 3 protectors and wiping off all adhesive residue. Apply new double-sided tape (1.2 mm) measuring equal to the width of the spoiler side before placement of the three protectors. Free the spoiler from peeling paper by heating both the body and the spoiler surface before checking that the adhesive does not contain any foreign materials. Install the center stop light connector followed by sliding the spoiler to attach its 2 clips then fasten the spoiler using 2 bolts tightened to 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) before installing the 2 rear spoiler covers.
