How to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2005 Toyota Solara?

The replacement process for the Engine Control Module (ECM) should start with negative terminal battery disconnection. Start by taking off the front door scuff plate RH followed by cowl side trim sub-assy RH and instrument panel under cover sub-assy No. 1 together with instrument panel finish lower panel RH. The ECM removal process requires unfastening the 2 clamp connectors from the wire harness then disconnecting 5 ECM connections and removing the 2 securing ECM nuts. Unscrew the ECM bracket through its 2 screws before proceeding to remove ECM bracket No. 2 with its 2 screws. Place ECM bracket No. 2 in position using the installed screws before you fasten ECM bracket with its 2 screws. Use the two wire harness clamps to secure the ECM before you connect its five connectors and tighten the two nuts which must have a torque of 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf). The last steps include replacing the instrument panel finish lower panel RH and instrument panel under cover sub-assy No. 1 as well as cowl side trim sub-assy RH and front door scuff plate RH. Following this, reconnect the battery negative terminal and perform system initialization.
