• Q: How to replace the windshield wiper motor assembly on 2005 Scion tC?

  A: To replace the windshield wiper motor assembly begin by removing the 2 front wiper arm head caps then the 2 nuts lowering the assembly on each side. Unfasten eight clips then detach the hood to cowl top seal. To complete the task remove five claws and two clips from the cowl top ventilator louver on the left side. Pull off the motor connector and remove the 4 bolts to extract the wiper motor assembly and link from the vehicle. Hold the wiper link rod with a taped screwdriver before unwinding the windshield wiper motor crank arm to the correct position. Install the wiper link assembly by removing its 3 screws. Start by fitting the windshield wiper motor assembly with its 3 bolts tightened to 5.4 N.m. Beforehand turn the wiper motor arm to the desired position manually and apply DENSO No.50 grease to the pivot joint. Install the wiper rod onto the wiper link component. Reattach the connector to the windshield wiper motor & link assembly and use four bolts to fit the unit in position. Torque bolts to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf). After setting the wiper to automatic pause position attach the wiper arm & blade assembly LH. Clean the wiper arm grooves with a wire brush and go behind by hand to tighten the nut onto the designated spot. Torque the nut to 34.3 N.m then fasten with hand pressure at the arm pivot. Put on the front wiper blade on the right arm after cleaning it at the installed position. Secure the nut to 34.3 N.m (350 kgf.cm, 25 ft.lbf) torque and apply hand pressure to secure the arm hinge.
