2004 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle body on 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The service procedure requires removing both the V-bank cover and draining engine coolant as the first step. As a first step you should disconnect the throttle body from the intake manifold by removing the 2 bolts and 2 nuts as well as taking off the throttle control connector and water bypass hose and the PCV hose. Two bolts and two nuts must be removed for disconnecting the throttle body from the intake manifold so you can disconnect a water bypass hose from the manifold thermostat on the throttle body before extracting the throttle body with its gasket. Installtion requires connecting the water bypass hose to the manifold thermostat on the throttle body followed by new gasket placement before tightening the throttle body with 2 bolts and 2 nuts to 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm. 13 ft.lbf). You should first attach the PCV hose followed by water bypass hose to throttle body and complete the connection by rejoining the throttle control connector. The installation process continues with attaching the intake air connector after which the system requires adding engine coolant along with engine start-up for leak detection before placing the V-bank cover.
