2003 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2003 Toyota Tundra?
A: Service and repair of the Clutch Master Cylinder starts with removing the filler cap together with the float from the reservoir before extracting brake fluid using a syringe while wiping away all fluid from painted surfaces. Disconnect the clutch line from the master cylinder by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 while collecting any fluid into a container until completion. Make use of needle-nose pliers to eliminate the clip and afterward extract the clevis pin and wave washer. Pull out the master cylinder by first removing its two mounting nuts before taking off the gasket. To disassemble the storage tank remove it through hitting with a pin punch and hammer on the slotted spring pin before taking out the reservoir and grommet. The lock nut should be loosened before removing the clevis and boot. Next apply pressure to the push rod while using snap ring pliers before removing the snap ring and push rod and washer in succession. Remove the piston with spring. Reassembly of the system begins with lubricating components using lithium soap base glycol grease followed by piston with spring insertion into the cylinder and proper installation of push rod and boot alongside washer and snap ring. The first step involves installing the lock nut with clevis followed by placing the new reservoir containing a different grommet. The slotted spring pin should be driven into position. Reinstall the master cylinder and mounting nuts to 14 Nm torque using a gasket and Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to connect the master cylinder with the clutch line at 15 Nm torque. The installation process concludes with placing the clevis pin together with the wave washer and clip before filling the clutch reservoir with fluid and bleeding the system and finally checking for any leaks during clutch pedal adjustment.
