How to replace the thermostat on 2003 Toyota Matrix?

In order to change the thermostat, empty the engine under cover and empty the coolant. Disassemble the alternator and remove it, water inlet and thermostat. Installation of new thermostat is done with a new gasket with the jiggle valve in the up position. Install the water inlet/generator assembly again and add a coolant and test for spillover.
