First remove two thermostat nuts to access the water inlet and thermostat at the water pump before successfully extracting both components and their gasket from the thermostat. Finally, take off the gasket from the thermostat. You should replace the thermostat if the check in water reveals an incorrect valve opening temperature of 80 - 84 degrees Celsius (176 - 183 degrees Fahrenheit). The valve should be at least 8 mm (0.31 inch) high when heated to 95 degrees Celsius (203 degrees Fahrenheit) while remaining fully sealed below 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit); failed inspection points warrant replacing the thermostat. To install the thermostat first set it with a new gasket then position the jiggle valve towards the protrusion of the water inlet housing before inserting the thermostat. Use the two nuts to install the water inlet by orienting the top mark towards the upper position while applying torque to 20 Nm (200 kgf-cm, 15 ft. lbs.). The replacement process requires attaching the lower radiator hose then filling the system with engine coolant before starting the engine to search for any potential leakages.
