- Q: How to service and repair the Throttle Cable/linkage with a cruise control system on 2001 Toyota Sienna?A: The process of repairing or servicing the throttle cable/linkage with cruise control requires first removing the battery and disconnecting the connector alongside removing 3 bolts which secure the cruise control actuator. Before disconnecting the throttle cable from the throttle linkage, loosen the adjusting nut. Start with the disconnection of the park/neutral position switch before removing the valve body. The throttle cable service requires removing its bolt alongside the retaining plate before extracting the cable through the transaxle case opening. To install a new throttle cable, you should bend it to 200 mm (7.87 inches) radius followed by pulling the inner cable with light tension until it produces slight resistance, then set the stopper at 0.8 to 1.5 mm (0.031 to 0.059 inch) from the outer cable end. Proceed with installing an O-ring onto the throttle cable before pulling it inside out and screwing the retaining bolt using a torque of 5.5 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 49 inch lbs.). Reinstall both components while the valve body takes priority over the park/neutral position switch. You should install the cruise control actuator with three bolts while reconnecting the connector afterward installing the battery. Installation of the throttle cable to the engine requires it to be torqued at 15 Nm (150 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) before completing ATF fluid filling and checking the fluid level with potential throttle cable adjustment needed afterward.
