2001 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you remove and install the front Air Bag sensor on 2001 Toyota Prius?
A: The average service time for removing the front Air Bag sensor involves disconnecting the connector when the sensor assembly is present followed by removing its LH-side securing bolts. After connector disconnection the second step is to take off the 2 bolts from the RH side. The front Air Bag sensor needs four bolts to secure it during installation at 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) torque. Connect the front Air Bag sensor only after the sensor assembly is properly positioned before installing the connector. If the sensor shows no signs of damage or dropped occurrence along with proper torque installation then proceed forward otherwise swap out for a new one. When you connect the connector to the front sensor it activates the electrical connection check mechanism which needs a secure lock to prevent diagnostic system malfunctioning. Position the sensor during installation so that its arrow points in the direction of vehicle front.
