- Q: How to replace a seat heater on 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser?A: Traversing through the replacement process of seat heaters demands one to safeguard the seat cover against scratches and dirt and accidental cutting when possible. Melt the adhesive tape from the seat heater sides by applying heat from a hair dryer with caution then take off the seat heater sections from both sides. The installation process begins with removing 23 hog rings from the seat cushion cover before detaching the cover from the pad and flipping the cover inside out while disconnecting the 4 seat wires to unscrew the tack pins fastened to the heater which finally exposes the seat heater. The procedure for seatback cover heater replacement starts with removing first 26 hog rings and wires before detaching the cover from the pad followed by turning it inside out and disconnecting 4 seat wires and tacking pin removal from the seat heater to extract it from the seatback cover. Use a tacker (BANZAI 303XT or equivalent) to install a new seat heater onto the seat cushion cover by using tack pins but avoid replacing them with different metal components and preserve an adequate space between the heater and cover for protection from damage. Fasten the cover and heater with tack pins that should be set at the same position as the V slit of the heater or through sewing thread installation with 6 - 7 mm (0.24 - 0.28 in.) space between the sewn items. The installation process for seat cushion cover requires inserting wires through pocket lists before securing it with 23 new hog rings then returning the cover to its initial position. Securing the sides of the new seat heater onto the seat cushion requires adhesive tapes where you should align the tape with the scribed marks. The installer will then put on the seatback cover to the pad by streaming the 4 wires into the listing pocket followed by flipping the cover back into position and fastening with 26 new hog rings.
