Discharging refrigerant from the refrigeration system becomes the initial step for servicing or repairing the HVAC hose/line. The next step involves tube or hose replacement while capping open fittings without delay to stop system entry of moisture or dirt. Tighten the bolt/joint while using the specified torques but remain within acceptable limits of installation. The procedure requires the evacuation of air from the refrigeration system followed by adding refrigerant to a specified volume of 650 plus or minus 50 g (22.93 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) for single A/C systems while dual A/C systems need 1,050 plus or minus 50 g (37.03 plus or minus 1.76 oz.). A gas leak detector should be used to check for refrigerant leakage after charging while any detected leak requires a check of joint tightening torques. The inspection of the air conditioning system must be performed as the last step.

Discharge the refrigerant from the refrigeration system.

Evacuate air from the refrigeration system and charge it with the specified amount of refrigerant, which is 650 ± 50 g (22.93 ± 1.76 oz.).

Tighten the joint of the bolt or nut to the specified torque, ensuring not to exceed the specified limits.

Evacuate air from the refrigeration system and charge it with refrigerant.
