Before working on the headlight dimmer switch engineers need to disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal while waiting for 90 seconds to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Start by disconnecting the connector to the headlight dimmer switch assembly followed by removing the steering column cover while being cautious of damaging the claw. Installation starts with attaching the claw before installing the headlight dimmer switch assembly and reconnection of the connector completes the process. Reinstallation of the steering column cover follows but before you can proceed secure the negative battery cable connection and then execute system initialization which becomes necessary when reconnecting the cable.

The first step involves separating the steering column cover along with the headlight dimmer switch assembly through a process of disconnecting the connector and body of the claw while protecting this delicate structure. You should first attach the claw before installing the headlight dimmer switch assembly followed by reattaching the connector. Return and reinstall the steering column cover followed by connection of the cable to the negative battery terminal. System initialization must take place before moving the cable connection between the negative battery terminal and disconnecting it.
