Dimmer Switch

The first step to service the headlight dimmer switch includes disconnecting the negative battery cable terminal and waiting 90 seconds before proceeding. Begin by facing the front wheels forward before taking out the steering pad assembly together with steering wheel assembly as well as steering column cover and spiral cable sub-assembly and wiper and washer switch. The headlight dimmer switch assembly removal process requires disconnecting the connector followed by using needle-nose pliers to remove the band clamp then separating the claws with a screwdriver after taping the screwdriver tip. To install the device first fit the claw onto the headlight dimmer switch then tighten it with the clamp before restoring the connector. The next step involves mounting the wiper and washer switch assembly and spiral cable sub-assembly and steering column cover and steering wheel assembly where you should maintain straight front wheels. After checking the center of the steering wheel complete the installation by putting in the steering pad assembly while restoring power to the negative battery terminal. The last step consists of examining the steering pad assembly while also examining the SRS warning light status.

Remove the light control rheostat by detaching the 2 claws, disconnecting the connector, and removing the switch.

Remove the wiper and washer switch.

Remove the steering column cover, spiral cable sub-assembly, and windshield wiper switch assembly.

Some systems may require initialization after reconnection.

Connect the connector and attach the 2 claws to secure the switch.

Insert the headlight dimmer switch assembly so that its recessed portion aligns with the steering column shaft, secure it with the band clamp and claw, and reconnect the connectors.

Reinstall the wiper and washer switch assembly, the spiral cable sub-assembly, and the steering column cover, adjusting the spiral cable sub-assembly as necessary.
