    Q:
How to service the rear spoiler on Toyota Prius? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service of the rear spoiler begins with disconnecting the negative battery cable terminal followed by a minimum 90-second wait to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. To access the components in the spoiler service procedure you must first disconnect the connector from the back door center stop light and then remove several assemblies sequentially starting with the rear wiper motor. The center stop light assembly should be handled for removal. Start by installing the center stop light assembly and afterward continue with the rear spoiler sub-assembly. The vehicle body and spoiler must get heated through the use of a heat light although the user needs to avoid overheating them during installation. Start by placing protective tape under the rear spoiler before heating the surfaces and removing previous double-sided tape and its residue to put fresh double-sided tape. Reheat the rear spoiler then eliminate its release paper from that surface making sure to protect the adhesive surface. Secure the center stop light connector before placing the 3 clips onto position and screwing in 4 bolts. Afterwards bolt in all four parts: the rear wiper motor assembly followed by the back door upper trim board assembly then the back door lower trim board assembly and finishing with the rear wiper arm assembly. Reconnection of the cable should be done to the negative battery terminal and subsequent initialization must occur since some systems need this sequence after disconnecting then reconnecting the battery.
