The first step to remove the seat cushion includes reviewing safety protocols about restraint systems followed by disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable for ninety seconds to stop Air Bag deployment. The removal of bench-type seats starts by removing the front seat and occupant classification ECU followed by the seat hinge covers from both sides and the seatback assembly along with the two seat track lower rear brackets and left and right outer track assemblies and both seat track handles for seat cushion sub-assembly extraction. For split-type seats on the passenger's side, remove the seat track cover, front seat assembly RH, occupant classification ECU, seat leg inner cover, reclining adjuster release handle, RH seat cushion shield, seat cushion lower shield, seatback assembly, RH center seat hinge cover, RH seat cushion inner shield and seat cushion cover, seat hinge cover, outer seat track lower front and rear brackets, inner seat track lower front and rear brackets, outer seat track, inner seat track, and finally the seat cushion sub-assembly. The occupant classification sensor installation requires the removal of its connector followed by band clamp slicing from the seat cushion frame then unfastening clamps before removing two clips. The installation process requires fresh components from the service kits but any SRS elements must originate from the same vehicle and occupant classification sensors which experienced accidents need to be replaced. The sensor cannot be used when it shows signs of damage and must be replaced. Position the occupant classification sensor by attaching its two clips then tighten the clamps before fixing the tube with new band clamp and connecting the sensor connector. The installation process for bench-type seats includes the seat cushion sub-assembly, seat track handles, outer track assemblies, two seat track lower rear brackets, seatback assembly, seat hinge covers, occupant classification ECU and a front seat as the final component. The installation process for split-type seats requires adding the seat cushion frame and the inner and outer seat tracks along with their lower front and rear brackets and press-fitting installation of all components including the seat hinge covers and the RH seat cushion inner shield and seat cushion cover and the RH center seat hinge cover and seatback assembly seat cushion lower shield and RH seat cushion shield and reclining adjuster release handle and seat leg inner cover and occupant classification ECU and front seat assembly RH and seat track cover. Completion involves attaching the cable to the negative terminal followed by zero point calibration and sensitivity check which leads to an inspection of the SRS warning light.
