    Q:
How to service and repair the A/C Clutch on Toyota Sienna? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step of compressor and magnetic clutch servicing requires the engine to run at idle while the A/C remains on for ten minutes followed by engine shutdown and battery cable disconnection at the negative terminal. Refrigerant discharge must occur from the refrigeration system then users should remove the drive belt and disconnect both discharge and suction hoses by loosening the 2 bolts before placing caps over the exposed fittings to avoid moisture and dirt intrusion. The generator removal process requires disconnecting the generator connector and unfastening the nut and generator wire before wiping the wire harness from the cup and taking out the pivot bolt, plate washer along with adjusting lock bolt and generator. After connector removal and the 2 bolts and nut and drive belt adjusting bar bracket disassembly proceed with the removal of the compressor and its 3 bolts. Start by installing the compressor first with 3 bolts reached at 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf) torque then proceed to install the generator drive belt adjusting bar bracket using 2 bolts and a nut while tightening Bolt (A) to 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) and Bolt (B) to 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf) and the nut to 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf). The generator bracket requires the pivot bolt and adjusting lock bolt without tightening at first along with generator connector connection and generator wire connection with the nut. Install the discharge and suction hoses after applying compressor oil to two new O-rings and placing them into the hoses before tightening two bolts to 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf). Do this immediately following cap removal. The technician must install the drive belt followed by checking it before reconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. Next they must evacuate air from the refrigeration system then fill it with refrigerant to reach the exact amount of 1,050 plus or minus 50 g (37.03 plus or minus 1.76 oz.). If leakage occurs during inspection with a gas leak detector you must check the joint torque before performing an inspection of the A/C system operation.
