    Q:
How to remove the front lower ball joint assembly on the LH side on Toyota Prius? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process starts with jacking up the front part of the vehicle to inspect the LH side front lower ball joint assembly while operating the front suspension lower No. 1 arm to detect vertical looseness using a wooden block with a cloth to protect bolt and nuts from damage. The installation process starts with eliminating both the front wheel and then the LH front axle hub nut. Detach the front speed sensor LH together with the front disc brake caliper assembly LH before taking off the front disc. The front lower ball joint assembly can be inspected after disconnecting the No. 2 tie rod end sub-assembly and the front suspension lower No. 1 arm sub-assembly LH by removing their bolt and two nuts to allow separation from the front lower ball joint. Neuter the front axle assembly LH and separate it from the front No. 1 wheel bearing dust deflector LH. The front lower ball joint assembly LH removal process starts by unscrewing the clip and castle nuts followed by using Special Service Tool: 09611-36020 to extract the lower ball joint front from its position while keeping the steering knuckle safe without damaging it and secure this tool on the steering knuckle spacer. The entire assembly should receive a new steering knuckle if the spacer separates.
