    Q:
How to Remove the Vapor Canister in an Evaporative Emission Control System on Toyota Prius? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to remove the Evaporative Emission Control Canister requires venting all fuel system pressure. Begin by removing the rear No. 2 floor board, then proceed to take off the rear deck floor box followed by the removal of the rear No. 3 floor board. Before installing the negative battery cable breaking, wait a minimum of 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag system activation. The service requires removal of lower center instrument panel finish panel together with the rear seat cushion assembly and rear floor service hole cover and front floor panel brace. Detach the front exhaust pipe using a clip remover and fold back the front floor carpet then disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector before removing its grommet with a pair of pliers followed by purging the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs. You must first disconnect and remove the gasket from the front exhaust pipe then unfasten the two bolts and springs to separate the front exhaust pipe from its mount points with exhaust pipe supports and gasket on the exhaust manifold. The next procedure requires fuel tank sub-assembly removal. The last procedure requires workers to disconnect the pressure switching valve connector and remove the clamp and wire harness clamp followed by disconnecting the 2 canister hoses from fuel tank retainer and fuel tank to canister tube and disconnecting the No. 1 canister outlet hose from the fuel tank before workers remove the bolt and 2 nuts that let them take out the canister.
