Release Cable, Front

The hood cable requires installation through the engine bay after passage through the upper radiator support for clamp attachment as depicted. The hood cable installation must be followed by attaching the hood lock control lever. Use MP grease for the sliding areas of the lock while installing the hood lock assembly using 3 bolts with the centering bolt received 7.5 Nm (77 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf) torque and standard bolts reaching 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf) torque. A post-installation check-up and adjustment of the hood sub-assembly should be performed. The front fender liner needs installation with new grommets and 3 screws which comes before installing 8 clips. Installation continues with the front wheel followed by side mudguard then front bumper assembly and No. 4 engine under cover (if equipped with 2AZ-FE) and radiator grille protector. Vehicles with fog lights require owners to prepare for adjustment and inspect the fog light aiming to achieve the right alignment.

The first step for Hood Cable Assembly removal involves removing the Radiator Grille Protector followed by taking out the No. 4 Engine Under Cover (for 2AZ-FE) and finally removing the Front Bumper Assembly. Begin by removing the Side Mudguard followed by the Front Wheel and Front Fender Liner which can be done with 8 clips and 3 screws then finish by taking out the 3 grommets although new grommets will be essential because the existing ones break upon extraction. Detach the Hood Lock Assembly by first removing three bolts and cutting the hood cable connection. The first step involves removing the Hood Lock Control Lever Sub-Assembly through disconnecting the hood cable. A screwdriver can be used to disconnect the Hood Cable Assembly clamps after taping the tip for protection and then draw the cable from the engine compartment for the removal.
