The replacement of Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 3 begins by removing first the rear wheel and subsequently the rear brake drum sub-assembly. First disconnect the parking brake shoe strut set LH by using Special Service Tool: 09718-00010 09703-30010 to separate it from the assembly before removing the front brake shoe alongside the parking brake shoe strut set LH along with the rear brake automatic adjust lever LH and rear brake shoe. The required next step involves removing the rear brake parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly alongside the cowl side trim board RH and instrument panel finish panel lower center, oxygen sensor, floor panel brace front as well as exhaust pipe assembly front. Detach the parking brake heat insulator by loosening 2 nuts then perform the parking brake cable assembly No. 3 removal by unfastening the bolt that separates it from the backing plate followed by removing the illustrated bolts and button to separate it from the parking brake equalizer. The installation of parking brake cable assembly No. 3 begins with connecting it to the parking brake equalizer then securing it with bolts and button while torquing Bolt A to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.) and Bolt B to 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 inch lbs.) after which the assembly should be attached to the backing plate through a bolt with 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) torque. After, add the parking brake heat insulator using two nuts tightened to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.) then install the exhaust pipe assembly front and floor panel brace front and oxygen sensor. Install the rear brake parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly along with the rear brake shoe, rear brake shoe return spring, rear brake automatic adjust lever LH, parking brake shoe strut set LH as well as front brake shoe by utilizing Special Service Tools 09703-30010 09718-00010 and high-temperature grease. The installation process requires a connection of the parking brake shoe strut set LH followed by inspection of the rear drum brake components then the installation of the rear brake drum sub-assembly and adjustment of the rear drum brake shoe clearance until completion with the rear wheel installation. Check the parking brake pedal movement along with inspecting for gas leakages.

Check the rear drum brake installation.

Thread the new parking brake cable assembly No. 1 through the pedal bracket and hold it with a new clip, then through the pedal guide, temporarily tighten the adjusting nut and lock nut, and fully tighten them when adjusting the parking brake pedal free play.

Unbend the parking brake pedal claw, then remove the lock nut and adjusting nut of the No. 1 parking brake cable from the parking brake pedal, disengage the clip, and remove the No. 1 parking brake cable.

Torque to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.) for Bolt A and 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 inch lbs.) for Bolt B.

Remove the front seat assembly (LH/RH), upper console panel sub-assembly, console box pocket, console box carpet, rear console box sub-assembly, front floor footrest, center airbag sensor assembly, yaw rate sensor (w/ VSC), No. 1 console box mounting bracket, and parking brake control pedal assembly.
