    Q:
How to Service and Repair the Brake Master Cylinder on Toyota Prius? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair of the brake master cylinder starts with windshield wiper removal and setting the brake control off through power switch OFF and No. 1 and No. 2 motor relay removal before the pump motor operates with air in the brake actuator hose. The service and repair process for the brake master cylinder starts with removal of 2 bolts from the outer front cowl top panel sub-assembly and the engine room No. 2 R/B. Afterward, use 3 clamps and 7 bolts to finish the removal. Drain brake fluid promptly if it comes into contact with paint as you take out the inverter with converter assembly. The technician should first discard the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly along with the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly. Start by unscrewing the brake return spring before unclipping the push rod pin to separate the push rod clevis from connecting to the brake pedal. First remove the 4 clips and 2 reservoir tube hoses then take out the bolt from the actuator bracket. The special service tool S09023-00101 should be used to disconnect the No. 1 front brake tube while separating the No. 2 front brake tube from the clamp and brake master cylinder. The final step entails removing two nuts, the brake master cylinder gasket and brake master cylinder from the bracket after which the special service tool releases the brake tube and 2-way from the brake master cylinder followed by removing the screw, No. 1 brake master cylinder union, 2 grommets, and finally loosening the clevis lock nut to detach the brake master cylinder push rod clevis.
