The first step to remove the rear console box in the sedan requires disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable. The technician must begin by removing the instrument panel finish panel lower center before proceeding with the shift lever knob sub-assembly extraction for manual transaxle through shift lever knob removal. To remove the upper console panel start with putting the shift lever into N position and then unclip five pieces while using the claw to detach the panel. You should remove the console upper rear panel sub-assembly by disconnecting its 3 clips and 3 claws before separating the connector from the assembly. The first step involves removing the console box carpet after disconnecting the clamp while also removing the 2 bolts and 2 screws and disengaging the 4 claws of the rear console box assembly. Start by fixing the 4 claws to place the rear console box assembly followed by screwing in the 2 bolts and 2 screws while connecting the clamp. Once you install the console box carpet, engage the connector for the console upper rear panel sub-assembly by using both 3 clips and 3 claws. As the next step install the upper console panel by engaging its 5 clips and claw and then install the shift lever knob sub-assembly designed for manual transaxle use. Before completing the last steps, connect the cable to the negative battery terminal with 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) torque and install the instrument panel finish panel lower center.

Disconnect the clamp, remove the 2 bolts and 2 screws, and disengage the 4 claws.

Remove the instrument panel finish panel lower center.
