The process of scrapping a vehicle with SRS systems or handling steering wheel pads containing Air Bags must begin with Air Bag deployment using Special Service Tool 09082-00700 (SRS Air Bag Deployment Tool) in designated outdoor locations. This work requires a minimum distance of 10 m (33 ft) between the operator and the steering wheel pad to prevent harm to local residents. The released sound from Air Bags is accompanied by extreme heat on the steering wheel pad which needs at least thirty minutes before safe interaction. Working with a deployed Air Bag requires proper hand protection using gloves and safety glasses while handwashing with water should be followed immediately without water contact to the Air Bag. To dispose of the side Air Bag assembly after deployment you must first let it cool for 30 minutes and then take it out from the seat before placing it inside a vinyl bag for secure disposal along with needed gloves and safety glasses following adequate hand washing.

The side airbag assembly will be very hot, so it should be left alone for at least 30 minutes, and gloves and safety glasses must be worn when handling it.

Maintain a distance of at least 10 m (33 ft) from the steering wheel pad during deployment.

Remove the column lower cover by unscrewing three screws while turning the steering wheel, disconnect the airbag connector of the spiral cable, and connect the Special Service Tool connectors: 09082-00700, 09082-00760 to the airbag connector.

Place at least two tires under and over the tire to which the assembly is tied, securing them tightly with wire harnesses.

The airbag will produce a loud sound, and the steering wheel pad will be very hot after deployment.

The operation should be performed outdoors to avoid disturbing nearby residents.
