Toyota engineers added precise steering, robust Brembo brakes and a choice of slick six speed manual or rapid shifting automatic so acceleration is a breeze whether on track or street. The Supra Fan Clutch is located between the water pump and cooling fan and features a thermostatic fluid coupling that is activated when coolant heats up then freewheels at lower temperatures, conserving fuel and horsepower. By modulating fan speed, the Fan Clutch avoids overheating during hard pulls but prevents unnecessary drag during cruising, a part of overall efficiency. To install, cool engine, remove shroud, loosen clutch nut and hold pulley, fit fan to new Fan Clutch, tighten, reinstall and test.
